We are now looking for two Electrical and Control Engineering Specialists to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role
As an Electrical and Control Engineering Specialist, you will improve workplace safety by assessing system hazards across various industries. Specifically, you will visit sites to investigate electrical and/or control system fatalities and other serious incidents to identify the cause, effectively manage risks and prevent reoccurrence.

Engaging with stakeholders at all levels, you will persuade those to achieve compliance with the law, as well as influence safety improvements, taking appropriate action where necessary.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Prepare technical reports and provide expert witness testimony at legal proceedings
  2. Contribute to intervention strategies and sector plans

About You
To be considered as an Electrical and Control Engineering Specialist, you will need:

  1. Practical experience in electrical and control system engineering
  2. Knowledge of distribution and use of electricity at both high and low voltage, including safe systems of work
  3. Knowledge of electrical, electronic, programmable (e.g., PLCs) and safety-related control systems as applied to process control equipment and machinery
  4. Knowledge of the application and use of electrical equipment in hazardous atmospheres
  5. Strong communication skills to influence change at all levels
  6. Sound analytical skills to identify gaps in risk management
  7. Initiative and decisiveness, making evidence-based decisions
  8. Strong technical writing skills to produce clear reports for non-specialist audiences
  9. An honours degree in electrical/control engineering or a closely related subject
  10. To be registered with the engineering council as a Chartered Engineer or have the necessary skills and experience to become chartered through the IET (or other acceptable professional body) and attain that status within one year of taking up the post
  11. A full, valid driving licence
