About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a progressive provider of therapeutic residential childcare in Swindon.
Supporting a 5-bed children's home, you'll play a key leadership role in providing high-quality, trauma-informed care for young people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager looking to join an organisation that genuinely invests in therapeutic practice, staff wellbeing, and career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home.
- Lead, motivate, supervise, and mentor the residential care team.
- Promote trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and therapeutic approaches throughout the service.
- Ensure the home consistently meets the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Complete and review care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and key documentation.
- Promote safeguarding and ensure all incidents and concerns are managed appropriately.
- Deliver meaningful staff supervisions, inductions, and ongoing coaching.
- Encourage reflective practice and continuous professional development.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, social workers, education providers, and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the on-call rota and complete one contracted sleep-in each week.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate and confident childcare professional who is passionate about therapeutic care and improving the lives of children and young people.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of one year's experience within a residential children's home, ideally as a Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, the Children's Homes Regulations, and Ofsted requirements.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and therapeutic practice.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of PACE, attachment theory, and therapeutic parenting approaches.
- Experience supporting children with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards the qualification.
