Registered Childrens Home Manager – 3 Bed Therapeutic Home – Up to £60,000 – Based around Hertfordshire / North London

We are recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a 3‑bedded therapeutic home within a well‑established residential company.

The role requires a values‑driven leader who is passionate about transforming the way children are supported and delivering exceptional outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain good practice in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Children Act 1989 and all other relevant legislation.
  • Ensure the home is managed in a way that supports the views, wishes and feelings of the young people accommodated in the home.
  • Access the development needs of residents and implement, review and monitor each young person’s Care Plan.
  • Promote partnership working with young people, their families, other staff and agencies to meet the needs of the children.
  • Deliver services in line with the Statement of Purpose and Function for the home.
  • Provide operational management of the staff team and deploy appropriate staff resources to fulfil key tasks.
  • Ensure sufficient backup resources are available for emergency and out‑of‑hours situations, including participation in an on‑call rota.
  • Supervise and offer constructive feedback to staff, participate in assessment and supervision, contribute to appraisals, and monitor staff development and training.
  • Act as a positive role model, using effective communication and appropriate language, and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Advise on policies and procedures to reflect the aims and objectives of the home; develop systems for monitoring progress.
  • Generate an open and supportive atmosphere within the home between staff members and residents to enable growth and development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.

What You Bring

  • Experience supervising staff within a children’s residential setting.
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or a similar role.
  • Level3/4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Level5 Diploma in Residential Childcare—or willingness to complete within 2 years.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to provide consistent, trauma‑informed care.
  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility to support the rota when required.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good standard of physical and mental health.
  • Clean and smart appearance at all times.
  • Commitment to promoting and upholding the integrity and goodwill of the company, its employees and the young people in care.
  • Additional Information
  • Full‑time, permanent position.
  • Flexible hours; occasional contact outside normal hours, including regular participation in the on‑call rota system.
