We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead a residential children’s home in Chelmsford, supporting children with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring outstanding care, strong compliance, and a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing individual care plans tailored to each child
- Leading, supervising, and supporting staff to deliver consistently high standards of care
- Ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards
- Managing daily operations including staffing, rotas, and resource allocation
- Monitoring children’s progress and wellbeing, adjusting care plans where necessary
- Working closely with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with legal and regulatory requirements
- Promoting a positive, professional culture focused on safeguarding, development, and best practice

About You
- An experienced Registered Children’s Home Manager (minimum 2 years in role)
- NVQ Level 5 qualified in Children and Young People’s Residential Workforce (essential)
- Confident in leading inspections and maintaining strong Ofsted outcomes
- Compassionate, child-focused leader with strong organisational skills
- Highly knowledgeable in safeguarding, care planning, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communicator, able to engage with staff, children, families, and professionals
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards
