About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced and committed Deputy Children's Home Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day running of a residential children's home in Berkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Residential Support Worker or existing Deputy Manager looking to progress within a supportive and child-focused environment. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home provides high-quality care, strong safeguarding practices, and positive outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in overall management of the home
  • Lead shifts and provide hands‑on support to the staff team
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and care standards are consistently met
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and placement stability
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members
  • Assist with rota management, audits, and compliance
  • Build positive relationships with young people, families, and external professionals
  • Participate in sleep‑ins and on‑call duties as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in residential childcare
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
  • Experience supporting young people with EBD and/or complex needs
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and children's home regulations
  • Ability to lead shifts and support team development
