We are recruiting for a Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a 2-bed children’s home in Bournemouth (BH9), providing care for young people with learning disabilities and trauma-related needs. This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or existing Deputy Manager to step into a well-supported leadership role within a specialist service. You’ll work closely with the Registered Manager to help lead the home, maintain high standards of care, and create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home.
- Lead shifts and provide guidance to the staff team.
- Promote a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to care.
- Assist with care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
- Help monitor incidents, safeguarding concerns, and medication processes.
- Assist with staff supervision, rota planning, and team development.
- Maintain accurate records and support compliance readiness.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Build positive working relationships with young people, families, and professionals.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a children’s residential care setting.
- Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or trauma-related needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice.
- Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Level 3 in Residential Childcare essential.
- Level 5 in Leadership and Management desirable, or willingness to work towards.
- Confident leadership skills and the ability to support and motivate a team.
