About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Deputy Children's Home Manager to join a specialist solo residential children's home in Basildon.
Supporting one young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping create a stable, safe, and therapeutic home environment.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you’ll help lead the day-to-day operation of the home, support the staff team, and ensure the highest standards of care are consistently delivered.
This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker ready to step into management or an existing Deputy Manager looking for a new challenge.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the day‑to‑day management of the home.
- Lead shifts and provide guidance, supervision, and support to the staff team.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and child‑centred environment.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with the young person and support them to achieve positive outcomes.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
- Support staff supervision, training, and development.
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and placement reviews.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Quality Standards.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Participate in the on‑call rota and work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins where required.
About You

Essential Requirements
- Experience working within a residential children’s home.
- Previous experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager.
- Level3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Level5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs in a solo or therapeutic setting.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed and attachment‑based approaches.
