Role Overview
Occupational Health Technician – a peripatetic role traveling across the UK in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to deliver high‑quality health surveillance services. This role offers a 3‑week training and induction programme, ongoing mentoring, and a supportive team environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct health surveillance screenings, including audiometry, lung function testing, and baseline measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and urinalysis.
- Accurately record all medical information in occupational health records and pass it to relevant clinical staff.
- Maintain and ensure all equipment is clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose.
- Support health promotion activities and other additional tasks as required.
- Assist the wider occupational health team by gathering and recording accurate information to support clinical decision‑making.
- Provide biometric data through screening procedures to enable nursing and physician staff to make informed clinical decisions regarding patient management.
What We Are Looking For
A highly skilled and self‑motivated professional with exceptional time‑management, written and verbal communication skills, and a solid understanding of GDPR. Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively, prioritise tasks, meet tight deadlines, and maintain positive working relationships. Ideal backgrounds include Healthcare Support Worker, Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Technician/Assistant, Emergency Care Technician, or Army Medic. Recent graduates with a degree in Sports Science who have performed baseline measurements are also encouraged to apply. A valid UK manual driving licence (at least 12 months held and minimum age 21) is mandatory.
Travel & Overnight Stays
The role requires regular overnight travel, typically away from home for three out of four weeks each month. The MMU can be parked at or near your home address overnight. We provide diary visibility six weeks in advance, subsistence for each night away, access to a Premier Inn account for bookings, and a fuel card.
Hours & Location
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, usually between 8 am and 6 pm. Candidates should be located in the South East, with regional travel and occasional nationwide travel.
Salary & Benefits
Annual salary between £25,000 and £27,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with a competitive hourly rate.
