We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Occupational Hygiene Technician to join our enthusiastic and supportive multidisciplinary team based at our highly-acclaimed client site, Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater in Somerset. The ideal candidate will be a strong team-player who ideally has some experience of industrial and/or construction environments, looking for their next challenge or to kickstart a career in the occupational hygiene/health and environmental monitoring field. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary occupational health team, taking a self-motivated and proactive approach to your role, prioritising and managing your own workload.
What you'll be doing:
- Performing Occupational Hygiene monitoring and surveys of personnel and site activities for a range of chemical, physical and biological agents.
- Participating in specific occupational hygiene related investigations and studies.
- Carrying out regular workplace inspections to assess occupational hygiene related aspects.
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of training and information materials on occupational hygiene related topics.
- Contributing to the occupational hygiene performance reports.
What we are looking for:
- A STEM related degree is essential.
- Ideally you will be an affiliate member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (AFOH) and working towards the certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) – however full training can be provided.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- IT competency and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
- Ideally you will have had at least three years’ work experience of industrial and/or construction environments (desirable).
Hours: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), working 5 days per week between Monday to Friday. This role will involve shift work, therefore the successful applicant will need to be comfortable covering a mixture of:
- Day shifts (7.5 hours per day), working Monday to Friday between 8am to 4pm, with 30-minute unpaid lunch breaks.
- Back shifts (7.5 hours per day), working Monday to Friday from 4pm to 12am, with 30-minute unpaid lunch breaks.
- Night shifts (approx. 9.5 hours per day), working Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 5am with 38-minute unpaid lunch breaks.
There will be enhanced pay for out of standard hours working.
Location: This is an on-site role, based at our client site Hinkley Point C, in Somerset. We are offering a competitive salary for this role, dependent on experience and qualifications.
