Role Outline

As an Occupational Health Technician, this is an excellent opportunity for a confident and driven individual to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary occupational health team based at our client site, Hinkley Point C. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated with a proactive approach, capable of effectively prioritising and managing their own workload. This is an on‑site position based at our client’s premises, where you will be undertaking health screening procedures in accordance with company protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role involves conducting health screening and surveillance procedures, including baseline measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, and urinalysis), audiometry, lung function testing, vision screening, and drug and alcohol testing, following strict chain‑of‑custody protocols.
  • You will ensure the accurate and confidential recording of medical information, supporting clinical staff by maintaining meticulous occupational health records.
  • Additional responsibilities include assisting with PTS medicals, non‑clinical tasks such as filing and tidying, and contributing to health promotion and education programmes.
  • You will also ensure all equipment is maintained, calibrated, and properly stored.
  • Adhering to set protocols and recognising role limitations, you will refer queries beyond your competency to clinical staff as appropriate.
  • A commitment to best practices and continuous professional development is essential.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an individual with a suitable background for this role, such as Health Care Assistant, Fitness Instructor, Ambulance EMT, Military Medic, or Offshore Medic. While there is no recognised professional qualification for this position, knowledge and experience in occupational health is essential. The ideal candidate will be approachable, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral), and will possess strong IT literacy. You should demonstrate a self‑motivated and proactive approach to work, the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team and have a strong understanding of patient confidentiality. Additionally, you should be capable of working effectively under supervision while recognising the limits of your practice.

Hours

This is a full‑time position working 37.5 hours. The working pattern will involve a mix of day shifts (8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday), back shift (4pm to 12pm) and night shifts (8pm to 6am, Monday to Thursday).

Location

This is an on‑site role, working at our client site, Hinkley Point C, Somerset. We are offering a competitive salary of £26,780 for this role.
