Are you an experienced Health CareAssistant with acan-doattitude and the flexibility to adaptto a changing clinical environment on a daily basis? If so, this role could bethe ideal position for you.

About theTeam/Service/ Location

Ourpassionate paediatric and neonatal nursing teams provide high-quality,family-focused care for pēpē, tamariki, rangatahi and whānau across our units.SCBU is co-located with Maternity, enabling us to keep māmā and pēpē togetherwhenever possible while caring for babies from approximately 32 weeks'gestation or stabilising sick neonates before transfer to Wellington. Our12-bed Paediatric Unit provides care for children aged 0'15 years, supported byonsite paediatricians and close collaboration with specialist, allied healthand iCAMHS teams.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will bepart of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is towork within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-onepatient therapeutic observations and other tasks as directed.

About you

  • We are looking for people with a mature outlook, the ability to get onwith a wide variety of people and who have excellent communication skills.
  • You will need the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner,demonstrate honesty and reliability, and use appropriate initiative.
  • Experience within the health sector is preferred but is not essential asfull training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)

Mandatory requirement

*NZQA Level 3: NewZealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand,ifnot previously obtained,isto be commenced onceorientations have been attended.

Experience within the health sector isrequired, and you will ideally hold a NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate inHealth and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, or equivalent, or be willingto study toward.
