BC Cancer – Surrey is looking for a family physician to work part-time within the Medical Oncology Department as a General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO). The GPO works collaboratively with Medical Oncologists and other medical specialists, nurses and clerical staff in an interdisciplinary working environment. The role includes ambulatory care of patients on therapy and in follow up. There is a component of the role that supports inpatient care as well. There is no on call service associated with this role.
The Surrey Centre, located in Surrey, BC, offers a full range of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative care and support services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials and Patient and Family Counseling.
Surrey is located 30 kilometres from downtown Vancouver and offers ready access to all the recreational and cultural activities that the Greater Vancouver area has to offer.

In addition to being licensed to practice as a family physician in British Columbia, you will also meet the requirements for appointment as a member of the medical staff of the BC Cancer Agency and Surrey Memorial Hospital. In-patient and oncology experience is an asset but is not required. You must also be suitable for appointment to the University of British Columbia. No previous experience in medical oncology is required; the department will support the successful applicant in developing the requisite expertise for the role.
Successful Candidates Will Have
Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC\’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
