Fraser Health is responsible for delivering hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people across 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon, within the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka'pamux Nations. This region is home to six MΓ©tis Chartered Communities. The Acquired Brain Injury and Concussion Services program provides education, community support, day programs, and specialized beds for adults with brain injuries across Fraser Health. We are seeking an exceptional physician leader to join us as a Regional Medical Director (RMD). You will provide regional leadership to support the delivery of care and services within Fraser Health from a medical staff perspective. This senior leadership role reports to the Executive Medical Director (EMD) of Medical Performance and is responsible for setting medical care standards, supporting practice standardization, and monitoring performance. This appointment is for a five-year term, renewable by the EMD. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement regional standards of care and practice for Medical Staff.
  • Ensure quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities are effective and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with ABI leadership for physician resource planning.
  • Manage physician contracts and ensure compliance with policies, including credentialing and discipline.
  • Provide leadership through mentoring, coaching, and collaborative influence.
  • Maintain visibility and engagement with the ABI team and service providers.
  • Support alignment of Medical Staff practices with other program activities and initiatives.
  • Offer senior medical leadership and decision-making on professional and strategic matters.
  • Develop policies supporting program integration and standardization, linking individual needs to the wider health system.
  • Participate in HAMAC meetings, providing strategic advice.
  • Promote research and training initiatives.
  • Advise on medical legal issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Neuro-Psychiatrist/Psychiatrist or Physiatrist with experience in moderate to severe acquired brain injury.
  • Eligible for membership on the Fraser Health Medical Staff.
  • At least five (5) years of leadership experience in healthcare, with hospital-based leadership preferred.
  • Master's degree in health administration or business administration (optional).
  • Additional leadership training is desirable.
  • Experience with budgetary and operational planning is advantageous.

Time Commitment: 0.3 FTE
