Job Overview: CCAB Qualified Accountant – Senior Finance Analyst (Band 8b). You will support the Head of Finance and Deputy Head of Finance with financial management across the Trust’s service areas, lead a team of accountants, and deliver business partnering and performance reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of accountants to provide day‑to‑day financial support.
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly performance reports for business unit board meetings.
- Prepare robust forecasts, support planning and monitoring of mitigating actions.
- Analyse and present highly complex financial information to clinical and non‑clinical colleagues.
- Challenge financial and business performance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Depute for the Head of Finance or Deputy Head of Finance at Boards, Specialty Boards and Performance Reviews.
- Provide specialist knowledge of reporting, payment by results, reference costs and capital revenue consequences.
Qualifications:
- Degree level education or equivalent.
- Qualified CCAB.
- Evidence of CPD.
Essential Experience:
- Financial Management experience, including continuous experience in a single organisation and in a senior role.
- Staff management and effective team working; experience of leading recruitment processes.
- Completion of an annual business planning cycle.
- Presenting financial information to board level and senior non‑finance managers.
Essential Skills:
- Explain highly complex ideas to non‑finance staff.
- Analyse and utilise complex information, review options and recommend to senior business unit management.
- Build rapport with clinical and operational teams.
- Think strategically, plan and implement change effectively.
Essential Knowledge:
- Up to date knowledge of NHS, organisational challenges and developments.
- Lead on the establishment of hospital‑wide savings programmes.
- Knowledge of financial controls and experience of reviewing, implementing or refining them.
- Understanding of links between operational and financial performance.
Desirable:
- Previous healthcare experience.
