An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, knowledgeable Pharmacist to join the ABUHB team! We are looking for an experienced pharmacist with proven delivery of the technical service agenda to join our team as the lead QA/QC Pharmacist across the organisation.

You will be responsible for the QA/QC service, manage the appropriate technical staff and act as the named Pharmacist on the Manufacturing License (Specials) issued by the MHRA. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our patients through ensuring the quality assurance of all pharmaceutical products manufactured and prepared within the HB, driving improvements in technical services and ensuring the HB has safe processes in place and is compliant with all relevant safety guidance.

The postholder will be supported by our excellent Technical Services Aseptic/QC team comprising of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. We encourage applications from candidates who wish to work full-time or part-time, as we will work with the successful postholder to determine priorities and job plan. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
  • To be responsible for the quality assurance of all pharmaceutical products manufactured and prepared within ABUHB.
  • To be responsible for product evaluation and risk assessment of all unlicensed medicines procured and issued within the HB.
  • To be responsible for the QC/QA service, manage the appropriate technical staff and act as the named Pharmacist on the Manufacturing Licence (Specials) issued by the MHRA.

Person specification
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Significant experience in a number of senior managerial and/or clinical roles.
  • Significant experience of facilitating and managing change.
  • Pharmacy degree.
Planning and organisation
  • Prioritisation skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
Communication and relationship skills
  • Experience of communicating highly complex information or medicine-related information to prescribers, clinicians.
  • Highly developed persuasive skills.
