What We're Looking For

  • Senior experience in finance, audit, or financial governance
  • Strong understanding of risk, assurance, and internal controls
  • Experience at Board or Committee level
  • Confidence to provide independent, objective, and constructive challenge
  • Experience in healthcare, public service, or other regulated sectors is welcome but not essential

Alongside your technical expertise, you will be someone who leads with integrity, communicates openly and honestly, and values collaboration. You will understand that good governance is ultimately about creating the conditions for safe care, supported teams, and better outcomes for the people and communities HUC serves.

Education and Qualifications

  • Essential criteria: Degree or equivalent and/or professional qualification
  • Desirable criteria: Degree in finance/business/management/clinical qualification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Essential criteria: Ability to understand complex strategic issues, analyse, resolve difficult problems and make strategic decisions
  • Experience of performance management and KPIs
  • Commercial acumen
  • Commercial experience gained at a senior level developing business growth; OR Clinical and patient safety expertise gained as a GP, secondary care clinician, nursing or allied disciplines, preferably with experience at a senior level; OR Relevant business/financial planning experience, coupled to strategic growth and development of financial resilience
  • Desirable criteria: Experience of Healthcare/social care sector
  • Knowledge of the NHS in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire
  • Previous Board Director experience, either Executive and ideally, Non-Executive
  • A recognised financial qualification

  • Evidence of successful working within and across whole organisational teams
  • Leadership using sound, independent judgment
  • Proven relationship building and ambassadorial skills
