Main duties

  • The post holder will support the Finance Manager and their deputy as well as service area teams, demonstrating accounting and business knowledge, analytical and clear presentation of highly complex or contentious financial and business information to clinical and non‐clinical colleagues.
  • They will constructively and positively challenge all aspects of service area financial and business performance and financial management processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Through a team of accountants, the post holder is required to produce monthly budget statements and financial reports for agreement with the Head of Finance for presentation at service area board meetings and to feed into the Trust's position for internal and external corporate reporting.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in experience
  • Willingness to work towards a CCAB qualification
Experience
  • Experience of financial management using accounting principles
  • Use of finance systems
  • Experience of reconciliations, reporting and monitoring processes while maintaining accurate and detailed records
Knowledge
  • Up to date knowledge of NHS Developments and Finance policies
Skills
  • Able to produce financial statements and reports and ensure the Trust strict financial timetables are adhered to
  • Highly competent in working with computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Able to work with non‐finance managers, act as 1st point of contact for budget control and management
  • Explain and interpret financial information to non‐finance managers
  • Excellent numerical, written and verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team player skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet conflicting deadlines
