Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust to work for. This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Job overview

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SaBP) is an ambitious provider of mental health, drug and alcohol and learning disability services for people of all ages in Surrey and North-East Hampshire. We provide a broad range of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency community services, early intervention and detection programmes, as well as highly specialised therapy and inpatient treatment. Our high-quality care focuses on enabling people to live well with their conditions and to work towards recovery.

We are looking to appoint an Associate Non-Executive Director to our Board, with recent (current or within the last 3 years) primary care experience as a G.P. Of equal importance, is your alignment with our values and ability to think strategically: helping us look beyond the boundaries of our organisation and build relationships and partnerships with our community and across a broad range of public, voluntary and social enterprise sector organisations.

Main duties of the job

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, and people with disabilities, to ensure that our Board reflects the diversity of our communities and encourages diversity of thought. We recognise that people can sometimes be put off applying for a job unless they think they match every requirement: don't let that hold you back.

This role is a public appointment and not subject to the provisions of employment law.

NHS boards play a key role in shaping the strategy, vision and purpose of an organisation. They hold the organisation to account for the delivery of strategy and ensure value for money.

They are also responsible for assuring that risks to the organisation and the public are managed and mitigated effectively. Led by an independent Chair and composed of a mixture of both Executive and independent Non-Executive members, the Board has a collective responsibility for the performance of the organisation.

We are one of the top 10 mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Trust to work for nationwide. We also provide a wide range of opportunities to help staff develop and progress.
