The post holder will work closely with the Research Audit & Effectiveness Lead to support all aspects of Critical Care data collection, closely liaising with the Critical Care Teams. They will also provide support for the critical care unit administration needs, including preparation of documents in Word/Excel, taking minutes of meetings and general office administrative support as directed.
Main Duties
- Collect data on all Critical Care Unit admissions for ICNARC from observation charts and Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
- Enter data onto Medicus system ensuring a full and accurate record of the patients’ admission.
- Ensure collection of unit Critical Care Minimum Data Set (CCMDS) and enter this daily into the Medicus database.
- Support the RAE Lead with data validation reports from the Case Mix Programme and amend when appropriate.
- Ensure completion of a range of spreadsheets and databases.
- Run reports from Medicus on activity‑related queries when requested.
- Ensure attendance at specified Critical Care meetings and deputise for the Audit Lead in presenting data at the Critical Care Delivery Group.
- Take minutes at critical care meetings when required, such as intensivist and staff meetings.
- Respect confidential information obtained in the course of duties and uphold the principles of Caldicott and the Data Protection Act.
- Maintain effective lines of communication with the teams, providing regular updates to the Audit Lead / Business Support Manager.
- Support general administrative tasks within the team as required.

Qualifications & Education
- Essential – ECDL or equivalent.
- Desirable – NVQ in Business Administration.
Knowledge & Experience
- Essential – Previous experience working with clinical audit information.
- Essential – Ability to process, analyse and store data.
- Essential – Experience of using Microsoft Office applications with extensive experience of Microsoft Excel.
- Essential – Awareness of Data Protection Act & Caldicott Guidelines.
- Desirable – Use of Excel Pivot tables to extract / summarise data.
