This role is the lead for the organisation in managing the financial systems used within the finance department and by staff across the organisation. This will involve ensuring the purchase ordering systems, accounting systems and payroll and expenses systems (ESR) work efficiently and effectively for Sirona Care and Health CIC. The role also leads and manages the payments team processing invoices for the company.

Main duties
  • Responsible for management and review of the specialist accounting systems for the company (WAP and SAGE), maintaining in-depth technical knowledge of the systems in order to make recommendations and adjustments to policies and procedures for the systems to improve their effectiveness.
  • This role is the systems expert for the finance team and works autonomously being the lead for the systems within the finance team and the company.
  • Make changes to policies and procedures for the specialist systems as required to ensure the most efficient operations of the system for the finance team and users across the company.
  • Maintain the core information tables within the systems which includes the setup and maintenance of users and delivery points in NHS supply chain and WAP.
  • Analyse the technical and complex data within the systems producing reports, trends and projections to support decision making within the company.
  • Make recommendations on courses of action that will impact on staff within the finance team and across the company.
  • Responsible for managing the payment team ensuring effective processing of invoices to suppliers and resolving all payment issues to ensure the company maintains its reputation.
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers including other NHS bodies, dealing with complex payment issues to resolve them and being a point of escalation for the payments team and managers across the organisation.

Person specification

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

  • Specialist experience in financial systems to masters degree equivalent
  • Experience of working within a financial accounts team working within a complex organisation
  • Experience of the maintenance and set up financial systems
  • Able to work autonomously with minimal input from line manager.
  • Able to prioritise and make decisions and offer advice about the best course of action to resolve problems
  • Understanding of financial accounting systems and the interrelationships between the financial modules (e.g. debtors, creditors and chart of accounts)
  • Expert skills in Excel
  • Able to interpret and explain a variety of routine and non-routine financial information to a variety of audiences
  • Evidence of ability to resolve routine and non-routine problems using sound logic

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in a health and social care setting
  • Experience of taking card payments

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to Degree level or hold recognised qualifications within the accountancy area at AAT level 4
  • Specialist knowledge and training in financial systems

Desirable criteria

  • Studying towards an accountancy qualification from one of the Consultive Committee of Accountancy Board accountancy bodies (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW)
