Assistant Financial Accountant based at Knowsley Community College (full-time 37.5 hrs). The role is within Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main Duties

  • Daily management of the Accounts Receivable team.
  • Provide monthly debt management analysis and action plans to senior managers.
  • Prepare trust-wide balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Lead debt management calls with NHS Shared Business Services.
  • Negotiate debt recovery, prepare management reports using advanced Excel.
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching and training to the team.
  • Assist with Freedom of Information requests, internal & external audits.
  • Support year-end accounts, reconciliation of control accounts.
  • Maintain professional registrations and adhere to code of practice.
  • Participate in teaching/training sessions, supervise staff, manage annual reviews and staff leave.

Qualifications & Experience

  • AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting or equivalent education/experience.
  • Supervisory experience, planning and organising tasks.
  • Analytical skills: interpreting complex data, robust forecasting.
  • Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel (pivot, lookups).
  • Desirable: NHS finance experience, Oracle General Ledger, training provision.
