We are looking for a dynamic individual to join Ysbyty Glan Clwyd's secondary care finance team (as part of the Centre IHC) as a Financial Analyst. Based in Abergele, you will work closely with our secondary care clinical and operational teams, helping to ensure our services maximise their value for money.
The successful post holder will have an AAT or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience. The role requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to value and patient care. Main duties of the job
- To work as part of the Management Accounting Finance Team in the preparation, processing and monitoring of all income and expenditure with named budgets.
- To support the monitoring of all budgets, ensuring compliance with standing orders, standing financial instructions and any other Health Board or Statutory accounting standards, policies and guidelines.
- Discuss and respond to / deal with queries from staff, customers or suppliers, any issues in respect of any aspect of Health Board / Delegated Budget income or expenditure, including areas of potential complexity and sensitivity.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed service budgets (for pay, non-pay and income), including the processing, reconciling and control of all such budgets within the Oracle Financial Systems and general ledger.
- Preparation and processing of journals for inputting to the general ledger, in accordance with systems and audit controls and monthly timescales.

Person SpecificationQualifications
- Essential: AAT Technician Level Qualification or proven equivalent experience of ability to work at this technical and professional level.
- Desirable: ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
Experience
- Essential: Experience working within a finance environment.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Experience of computerised financial management systems and controls.
- Experience of working with people outside own immediate work area in the communication of financial information.
- Desirable: Experience of NHS accounting, including reconciliations, controls, and VAT rules and guidelines.
- Experience of budget setting and budgetary control, including the reporting and management and implementation of corrective action.
- Experience of dealing with external agencies and dealing with Audit queries and responses.
Knowledge
- Essential: Knowledge of financial and computerised reporting systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS Budgets and the need to report and control these accordingly and appropriately.
- Understand the implication of current Accounting and NHS legislation as it affects the area of work.
Skills
- Essential: The ability to effectively organise workload and work within strict deadlines.
- Excellent in the use of spreadsheets and other PC-based office applications.
- The ability to process, analyse and interpret complex financial data, and explain the result to non-finance staff.
- The ability to identify errors, resolve discrepancies and handle any problems as they arise.
- Ability to exercise judgement and control.
- Desirable: The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh.
