Lead the future of health and care innovation. Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) is the lead agency for health innovation in our region and part of a national network of 15 Health Innovation Networks. We work across six Integrated Care Systems, 24 NHS Trusts, 1,700+ care homes and 26 councils, alongside partners in academia, industry and the voluntary sector. Our ambition is clear: to make the West Midlands the global benchmark for applied health innovation, improving outcomes, reducing inequalities, and powering economic growth. About the role:
- Shape the vision: Setting the strategic direction for HIWM, ensuring delivery of licence agreements and stakeholder priorities.
- Ignite collaboration: Convening the brightest minds from health, academia, industry and the voluntary sector to tackle the toughest challenges and accelerate breakthroughs.
- Drive transformation: Leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and ideas that achieve measurable impact at pace and scale.
- Champion innovation culture: Fostering an open, inclusive environment where creativity thrives, staff feel empowered, and bold ideas become reality.
- Represent and influence: Acting as the voice of health innovation for the West Midlands on the regional, national and international stage, building partnerships that amplify our reach and impact.
- Ensure sustainability: Securing income growth, maintaining financial resilience and creating the conditions for long-term success.
What we’re looking for:
We seek a visionary leader who combines strategic insight with the ability to deliver in a complex healthcare and life sciences ecosystem. You will bring:
- Proven leadership at CEO or senior executive level in health and care systems, with a track record of delivering transformation.
- Influencing and collaboration skills to unite diverse stakeholders, NHS, regional government, academia, industry and communities behind a shared mission.
- Commercial acumen to secure income growth and develop new services that sustain and expand our impact.
- Expertise in innovation adoption and evidence-based improvement, with the ability to turn ideas into measurable outcomes.
- Commitment to inclusion and equity, ensuring innovation reduces health inequalities and meets the needs of our diverse population.
- Ambition and resilience to lead change at pace, inspire confidence and deliver results in a complex, evolving landscape.
