We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Stocken. HMP Stocken is a category C training prison housing around 1056 patients, the majority of whom are aged between 21-40 years of age. You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver support to adult males with complex mental health and trauma needs.
Hours: 20 hours per week works across 2.5 days. We are happy to create a rolling rota for this role working 2 days one week, 3 days the next, and are flexible which days are worked Monday to Friday. If you are looking for full-time work we are also able to offer sessions at HMP Gartree or HMP Five Wells.
Salary: This position is 20 hours per week; you will receive an annual salary up to £186,480 per annum FTE – depending on experience.
How will we support you?
- You will be part of a team of 15+ experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
- You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite.
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
- Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required:
- Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
- Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS1983.
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
- Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD.
- Aware of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
