We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse, a Category B men's prison and young offenders institution based in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside. Ideal applicants would be experienced general practitioners who have previously prescribed for and supported patients with substance misuse needs. HMP Altcourse is a fast-paced environment where you will be working closely with a full multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Hours:
- 8am-9pm Monday to Friday
- 2pm-6pm Saturdays
We have 2 roles available; these hours will be worked as a job share.
Salary:
This position is part-time, and you’ll receive an annual salary between £110,775 and £120,787 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing:
As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Deliver first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, providing clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and making timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required:
- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
