We have an exciting opportunity for 2 General Practitioners to join our Primary Care team at HMP Belmarsh. HMP Belmarsh is a category A Prison located in South East London, close to Plumstead and Woolwich Arsenal stations. The prison houses around 675 patients with a variety of needs including complex physical and mental health. Within this role, you will be working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team including 2 other permanent GPs providing excellent clinical care and treatment.

Hours

Sessions can be any time Monday to Friday 9am-10pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm.

Salary

This is a bank role offering £100 per hour.

What you’ll be doing:

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and respected members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering first-class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, providing the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice or A&E environment.
  • Providing clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient requirements and making timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Serving as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at the site, actively involved in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
  • Engaging in career development opportunities to enhance your skills and experience, including both internal and external options for development and learning.
  • Accessing discounts on shopping and leisure activities.
  • Receiving support to grow in your role and continue your professional development.
  • Utilizing a 24/7 employee assistance helpline and financial assistance when needed.

Qualifications required:

  • MBChB or MBBS, inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or preparedness to undertake these qualifications.
