Purpose of Role: Imagine starting your day knowing you’ll make a real difference in someone’s life. In this role, you’ll work with multiple clients and industries throughout the UK, supporting employees in a variety of workplaces—from offices to manufacturing environments. Every case is different, and you’ll adapt your approach to suit each organisation, team, and individual.

A call comes in from an employee struggling with an injury or illness. Your role is to understand the full picture; what’s really behind their absence, what risks they face, and how best to support them back to health and work. You coordinate care, provide guidance, and empower employees to take control of their recovery.

As a Case Manager, you’re not just handling cases; you’re shaping outcomes. Your insights help reduce absence, guide line managers and HR, and ensure employees can return to work safely and confidently. Every day is fast paced, engaging, and meaningful, with a combination of telephone and video consultations and collaboration across multiple departments.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day:

  • Investigate & Assess: Identify the root causes of ill health or injury, considering personal and occupational risk factors.
  • Guide & Empower: Communicate with employees to help them understand their situation and how to manage risk factors within their control.
  • Coordinate Care: Access treatments via NHS or private providers, ensuring effective interventions and funding options.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the Functional Health Team, HR, Health & Safety, and line managers to deliver a 3D, holistic approach to case management.
  • Drive Measurable Outcomes: Reduce sickness absence, minimise modified duties, manage third-party supplier costs, and ensure timely case resolution—all while maintaining GDPR/ICO compliance.
  • Manage a Fast-Paced Workflow: Handle multiple cases efficiently, using telephone, video, and digital tools to maintain clear communication and documentation.

Skills:

  • Empathetic, professional, and confident in your communication, both on the phone and virtually.
  • Experience with carrying out telephone calls or assessments confidently and professionally.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Analytical and solution-focused, able to interpret data and identify obstacles to recovery.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and comfortable with case management systems.
  • You bring practical experience and insight into managing cases, not just theoretical knowledge—your life experience and hands‑on problem solving are highly valued.
  • Previous case management, occupational health, or similar experience.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Desirable: Professional qualification such as physiotherapist, corrective exercise professional, counsellor, CBT practitioner, nutritionist, physiologist, nurse, or other relevant health/rehabilitation certification.
  • Equally Valuable: Proven hands‑on experience in case management, occupational health, or supporting employees through periods of ill health or injury. Practical experience, empathy, and problem‑solving ability are just as important as formal qualifications.

Equal Opportunities Statement: HCML is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
