We are now looking for an Offshore Inspection Management Team Inspector to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a chartered offshore professional with strong operational or technical experience in the oil and gas sector to join our essential organisation. You’ll have the chance to apply your knowledge at the forefront of regulation, playing a vital role in protecting people and places across one of the most safety-critical industries in the UK. We’ll provide any training you may need to bring you up to speed within our dedicated Learning Academy.

The Role

As an Offshore Inspection Management Team Inspector, you will regulate offshore oil and gas operations, helping to ensure major accident hazards are effectively managed and legal health and safety standards are met. Carrying out frontline inspections and investigations across offshore and related activities, you will assess the effectiveness of safety management systems, identify risks and influence organisations to improve compliance. You will also investigate major hazard events and serious incidents, identifying root causes, securing improvements and, where necessary, taking enforcement action to prevent recurrence.

Additionally, you will:

  • Compile prosecution reports where required
  • Issue prohibition and improvement notices when necessary
  • Define and lead intervention strategies and plans for allocated duty holders
  • Manage the assessment of safety cases and regulatory submissions
  • Build effective relationships with industry, government departments, the offshore workforce and the joint Competent Authority

You will join our Regulatory Learning Academy and undertake the learning pathway relevant to your role. This pathway will reflect the core operational functions and skills required in this role.

About You

To be considered as an Offshore Inspection Management Team Inspector, you will need:

  • Practical experience working in engineering, technical, operations, management or regulatory roles in the offshore oil and gas industry, with professional responsibility and authority
  • The ability to lead and work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good communication, organisational and planning skills
  • An honours degree or above in an Engineering, Scientific, Health and Safety, Technical, or closely related subject
  • Current Chartered Engineer status, registered with the Engineering Council, and membership of a professional engineering institution licensed by the Engineering Council or current Chartered Membership status with an approved professional institution or learned society relevant to your scientific or technical expertise
  • A full, valid driving licence (we will consider any proposals put forward by applicants that would allow them to do the job by another means in line with the Equality Act 2010)

You will also need detailed knowledge in relevant areas, which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations and maintenance management
  • Quality, health and safety management systems in an offshore major hazard context
  • Safety cases and verification schemes
  • Offshore exploration, production and support installations, and the general operation of their plant and equipment
  • The roles of offshore safety committees and elected safety representatives

Please note, you must be able to satisfy the OEUK approved offshore medical & OPITO approved survival training requirements (BOSIET/MIST). The closing date for this role is midday on Monday 13th July 2026.
