Overview
As a specialist EC&I inspector in the Energy Division, you regulate offshore oil, gas, pipelines, and related operations, ensuring safe electrical, control, instrumentation, and cyber security practices. Youβll assess safety cases, conduct inspections and investigations, and provide expert guidance to improve standards. The role blends field offshore work with onshore assessments, shaping sector-wide safety outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Assess safety cases and determine adequacy of demonstrations
- Lead investigations of incidents or complaints within a multidisciplinary team
- Perform offshore/onshore inspections and issue enforcement actions based on risk
- Conduct EC&I inspections covering functional safety, EX equipment, Fire & Gas, Process Control, and ESD
- Carry out Cyber Security inspections for Major Hazard risks
- Prepare technical reports and expert evidence for legal proceedings
- Provide expert advice on EC&I, OT cyber security and health and safety matters
- Represent HSE on standards committees (e.g., JPEL/18, Energy Institute, ATEX, IEC61511) and stakeholder groups
Key requirements
- Extensive practical experience in safety-related EC&I engineering and OT cyber security in offshore major hazard oil & gas
- Deep knowledge of offshore engineering and industrial cyber security standards (IEC 61511, IEC 62443)
- Experience advising on compliance with relevant legislation, standards and good practice for EC&I and OT cyber security
- Functional safety certification (e.g., TΓV FS Engineer) or equivalent experience in safety instrumented systems
- OT/IACS cyber security knowledge and certifications (e.g., CISSP, GICSP, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, ISA/IEC 62443 Cyber Security Expert)
- Ability to analyse complex technical information and communicate findings to influence improvements
- Independent engineering judgement for risk assessments and safety-critical systems
- Strong report writing, presentations and stakeholder communication skills
