It also regulates the safe use and transport of chemicals and acts as Ireland's national accreditation body through INAB. About the role Join the HSA's Chemicals Division as an Inspector, monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Chemicals Acts and the COMAH Regulations. You'll inspect and investigate high-hazard sites, assess safety reports, help shape guidance and policy, and represent the HSA at EU level. What you'll do Deliver Competent Authority functions under the COMAH Regulations Plan and carry out inspections of COMAH sites, chemical production and storage, including enforcement Assess safety reports, major accident prevention policies and planning advice requests Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints, and prepare reports, including for legal proceedings Develop guidance, checklists and inspection campaigns Build expertise in process safety and major accident hazards Work with national and EU stakeholders, travel to EU meetings, and may manage a team What you'll need Essential: A Level 8 degree in Engineering, Science or another appropriate discipline At least three years' relevant experience, with significant experience in a relevant area in a regulatory or industry setting A full Category B driving licence Desirable: process safety experience in the chemicals or process industry, a relevant postgraduate qualification, a Health and Safety qualification, and project or staff management experience.
