Inspector Grade II: Chemical Regulatory Policy Location: Dublin (preferred), with regional locations considered Contract: Full-time, permanent (following a 9-month probation) Salary: β¬76,202 β β¬87,125, plus long service increments to β¬92,931 (starting at the first point) Closing date: Thursday 22 October 2026 at 5pm About the HSA The Health and Safety Authority is Ireland's national regulator for workplace safety, health and welfare. It also regulates the safe use and transport of chemicals and acts as Ireland's national accreditation body through INAB. About the roles Join the HSA's Chemicals Division and help shape chemicals policy at national and EU level. You'll work mainly on REACH, CLP and the new One Substance One Assessment (OSOA) framework, in one of two technical roles: Chemicals Risk Management or Chemicals Legislative Policy. You'll represent the HSA on EU technical and expert working groups and help drive decisions on the safe use of chemicals across Europe. What you'll do Deliver Competent Authority functions for REACH, CLP and OSOA Monitor EU chemicals legislation and analyse proposals and their supply chain impacts Draft policy papers, briefings and position statements Attend EU meetings and working groups, and review ECHA and Member State proposals Advise internal stakeholders and Departmental officials Engage with stakeholders through meetings, presentations and the Chemical Helpdesk Lead on relevant policy and technical areas, and may manage a small team What you'll need Essential: A Level 8 degree in a science-related discipline (e.g. Environmental Science, Toxicology, Chemistry, Regulatory Science) or another relevant discipline At least three years' relevant experience, with significant experience in chemicals regulation, policy, regulatory affairs or a related field Good knowledge of relevant EU and Irish legislation A full Category B driving licence Desirable: a relevant postgraduate qualification, EU-level risk management experience, experience on national or EU committees, and project or staff management experience.
