This is a key management role that works with peers and teams across the organisation, providing effective leadership to ensure site teams fulfill their responsibilities and meet contractual, regulatory and best‑practice standards.
Team Management
- Manage the practice team for each site, ensuring day‑to‑day role fulfilment.
- Lead the team in a multidisciplinary approach alongside the Hub Lead GP/Partner to achieve shared goals and outcomes.
- Support and innovate with peers, learning from incidents and other learning opportunities.
- Implement hub‑wide projects and initiatives to improve quality.
- Work in close liaison with fellow hub/practice managers, providing cross‑cover to ensure service continuity.
Performance & Quality
- Ensure delivery of national and local performance standards, including CQC and ICB requirements.
- Maximise achievement of QOF, local incentive schemes and any local/Directed Enhanced Services, planning and organising work with peers and clinicians.
- Conduct audits to maintain activity levels, utilisation and performance, and enhance standards through peer audit.
- Prepare and submit all required practice returns and statutory submissions on time.
- Provide information required for performance reports and other ad‑hoc requests.
Financial & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the hub is financially efficient and complies with all health, safety and employment legislation.
- Maintain compliance with CQC quality statements and governance framework.
- Audit stock, undertake forward routine checks, initiate purchases and record transactions to achieve value‑for‑money.
Staff Management
- Plan and maintain safe staffing levels, review and respond to workforce changes.
- Recruit, onboard, induce and support staff, ensuring competency and development plans.
- Manage annual leave, sick absences and other leave, maintain rosters and manage disciplinary matters with HR.
- Maintain personnel files and conduct performance appraisals and return‑to‑work or exit interviews.
Patient Experience & Engagement
- Work with the Patient Participation Group and community partners to foster good relationships.
- Manage patient complaints in line with NHS regulations and H&B policy, including formal complaints to external bodies.
- Review GP survey results and implement rolling improvement plans.
- Respond to comments posted on public facing websites and maintain up‑to‑date online content.
- Ensure patient information displays and leaflets are current and relevant; coordinate patient group meetings.
Qualifications
- Level 5 or above, or equivalent management experience within a health or care setting.
- Proficiency in key Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency in the use of clinical IT systems (preferred).
- Experience in staff performance management, recruitment, sickness absence management and implementing managerial policies/HR procedures.
- Knowledge of CQC and governance framework for primary care services.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Experience with enhanced services and primary medical service contracts.
