You will be part of a supportive team that prioritises continuous professional development and a strong team ethos, working closely with teachers and Senior Leaders to ensure consistent, sound support throughout the Academy.

The Role

  • Location: Healing Academy, Grimsby
  • Salary Scale: Scale 2, Points 3-4 (£24,796 - £25,185 FTE / £18,546 - £18,837 Actual)
  • Contract Type: 2 Years Fixed Term
  • Reports to: Senior Leader
  • Closing date: 17th August 2026
  • Start date: ASAP

As a Teaching Assistant (Level 2), you will work with groups or individual children, delivering targeted teaching and learning tasks to promote physical, emotional, educational, and social development. You will play a key role in fostering growth, self-esteem, and independence while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support individual pupils or groups (with or without special needs), take responsibility for specific teaching tasks, and assist in preparing the classroom environment.
  • Assist with individual education and behavioural plans, encourage good conduct, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and pupils on progress and achievements.
  • Establish trusting, positive relationships tailored to individual pupil needs, fostering their confidence, self-esteem, and independence.
  • Support the use of technology in learning to develop pupils' competence, and assist with the movement of children safely around the school.
  • Act strictly in accordance with school policies regarding child protection, behaviour management, health and safety, and data protection.

We are seeking an approachable, organised practitioner with a strong work ethic who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for children.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools or Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or evidence of continuous professional development).
  • Proven experience working with children of a relevant age in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work both on your own initiative and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Competency in IT (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A deep commitment to safeguarding and Harbour Learning Trust's DANCE values.

Desirable Requirements

  • Understanding of the national Key Stage (KS) curriculum and child development/learning.
