The Role

The Learning Manager role is crucial to the ongoing evolution of pastoral practice at Healing Academy. Working closely with the Inclusion team and wider school staff, you will play a central role in driving a restorative and coaching‑led environment that maximises student attainment, attendance, and positive behaviour.

You will join a collaborative team that prioritises student well‑being and strong family partnerships, ensuring every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive as a successful global citizen.

  • Location: Healing Academy

  • Salary Scale: Scale 5, point 12-17

  • FTE Salary: £29,541 - £32,046

  • Actual Salary: £25,376 - £27,528

  • Contract Type: Permanent

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time + 5 days

  • Reports to: Academy Principal

  • Closing Date: 25th September 2026

  • Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Pastoral & Behaviour Leadership: Monitor student engagement, progress, and behaviour across your designated year group using restorative principles to resolve conflicts and build resilience

  • Coaching & Mentoring: Act as a key driver in the academy’s emerging coaching culture, supporting students through reflective discussions and goal-setting.

  • Attendance & Engagement: Conduct weekly attendance checks, liaise with parents and carers to resolve issues promptly, and actively break down barriers to school attendance.

  • Family Partnership: Build positive, trusted relationships with families to foster strong parental and carer engagement.

  • Data-Driven Interventions: Utilise school data platforms to design, implement, and evaluate targeted support strategies for vulnerable students.

The Person: What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an organised, approachable practitioner with exceptional listening skills who operates with absolute discretion, empathy, and restorative values.

Essential Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above).

  • Experience working within the education system or in multi‑agency settings.

  • Understanding of how to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and to recognise potential child safeguarding issues

  • Proven ability to build trusted working relationships with parents, children, and external agencies to maximize engagement.

  • Excellent knowledge of using Microsoft Office packages, SIMS, databases and web technologies

  • A deep commitment to safeguarding and Harbour Learning Trust's DANCE values.

Desirable Requirements

  • Safeguarding Certificate level 1

  • Prior experience working as a Learning Manager or in a similar role within an Academy environment
  • Enhanced safeguarding knowledge and application within an education context
