About The Role – Financial Controller
This individual will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the finance function run smoothly, and play an integral, early role as we build a best-in-class finance function.
This individual will champion accurate financial reporting in the business, ensuring the accounting system and other key databases are accurate and up-to-date and being responsible for building and managing effective financial controls across the business particularly with regards to inventory, revenue and VAT. You will also manage AR/AP balances to help optimise Healf’s working capital cycle. You will also be a key player in the month-end and year-end reporting process.
The role will report into the CFO, oversee two remote virtual assistant team members and work alongside our 3rd party book-keeping team.
The role requires a strong understanding of accounting processes and principles along with a keen understanding and experience working with Inventory / e-commerce / multi-brand retail.
There will be elements of cross-functional projects and work, in particular to support the operations teams and deliver key insights to decision makers across the business.
This is an incredibly exciting role to be an early team-member in the finance department of a company that is experiencing extreme growth and is championing a positive mission with the backing of some fantastic investors. You will have huge amounts of opportunity for ownership, responsibility and progression from the get-go!
What You Will Do
- Manage the accounts receivable and payable balances and generally assist in optimising Healf’s working capital cycle.
- Strategise, build and own financial controls, particularly around inventory and revenue.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, particularly around product-level VAT requirements.
- Assist in accurate and timely management reporting to assist business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the month-end process reporting process.
- Manage and develop a small finance team. Working with the CFO to build out the team as Healf continues to grow.
- Responsible for the team’s accurate and timely maintenance of price lists.
- Liaising with stakeholders and external auditors.
- Review accounting/business processes and practices to improve commercial finance reporting.

- 3+ years finance experience.
- Qualified accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, processes and controls.
- Experience in a similar role within ecommerce or retail.
- Strong analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, with organised structured working and strong prioritisation skills.
- Strong communication skills, able to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- An open mindset, able to overcome operational challenges at speed.
- Ability to take ownership of challenges and processes.
- Self-motivated and willing to take the initiative.
- Experience using Xero (preferred but not required).
