We are seeking a highly motivated Bid Writer / Business Development Officer to join our vibrant office in Hertfordshire. The Heales Innovation Group, incorporating Heales Medical, is an expanding organisation operating primarily within the Occupational Health industry, supporting both private and public sector organisations across the United Kingdom.
About the Role
This is a dual-purpose role combining high-quality bid writing with commercial business development activity. You will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end bid and proposal process, producing persuasive submissions, identifying tender opportunities, and contributing to wider growth initiatives. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across operations, clinical services, finance, and leadership teams to develop winning bids, strengthen pipeline opportunities, and help drive business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Bid Writing & Tender Management
- Support the full end-to-end bid / proposal process from opportunity identification through to submission
- Write clear, persuasive, and high-quality bid responses tailored to client requirements
- Coordinate information gathering from multiple internal stakeholders
- Ensure submissions are compliant, accurate, and delivered to fixed deadlines
- Support high-value, complex, and public sector tender submissions
- Maintain bid content libraries, case studies, and reusable proposal materials
- Use digital tools, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve efficiency and quality
- Business Development
- Identify and track new tender, framework, and growth opportunities
- Build relationships with prospective and existing clients
- Support pipeline management and lead generation activity
- Contribute to sales strategies and commercial growth plans
- Analyse market trends, competitors, and customer needs
- Attend networking events, client meetings, and industry forums where required
- Support customer retention and account development initiatives

- Experience working across the end-to-end bid or proposal process

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences

- The ability to work to fixed deadlines within a structured bid environment
- Commercial awareness with the confidence to support growth activity
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience using digital tools (including AI-enabled tools) to improve efficiency and quality

- Experience within healthcare, occupational health, professional services, or other regulated environments
- Exposure to formal bid governance processes
- Experience contributing to bid knowledge management or content libraries
- Previous experience in business development, account management, or sales support
