Contract: Full time, maternity cover (12 months)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work (if / when required, not as standard)

Location: Heal Somerset, Lower West Farm Barn, Witham Friary, BA11 5HH (and open to discussion about some home working if commute is 45 minutes or more)

About the role:

Heal is looking for maternity leave cover for a Communications Manager who will create and deliver strong, brand‑building content about Heal’s work which wins hearts and minds and makes us stand out in a crowded space. You will need to be familiar with a broad range of communications activities, having around two years’ experience in a broadly based comms role. You will be a very good writer, confident and secure in your use of English, including grammar, punctuation, nuance, tone and style. You will be able to find new ways to say the same thing and create novel content which catches people’s attention and encourages engagement. You’ll need to proactively look for opportunities to increase awareness of Heal’s work and rewilding in general, and find ways to engage new audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all social media activity, creating engaging content across Heal’s social media channels and monitoring and scheduling all posts.
  • Edit and create content for both the Heal Rewilding and Heal Somerset websites.
  • Create and deliver monthly and quarterly newsletters.
  • Analyse analytics for social media, websites and newsletters to inform future activities.
  • Work with the Learning and Sharing Manager and Marketing and Events Coordinator to support events and activities by creating and promoting compelling promotional materials.
  • Identify PR opportunities, liaise with the media and write and deliver press releases.
  • Ensure a smooth user journey across social media and the website for those booking events, donating, sponsoring 3x3 squares or any other activity.
  • Work with other staff to provide communications support for campaigns and activities.
  • Ensure all external communications are at an excellent standard and on brand.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications:

  • At least two years’ experience in a broadly based communications role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing social media channels, websites and newsletters.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
