Headway UK developed the Approved Provider Scheme in 2011 and is seeking a new part‑time team member to support brain injury survivors.

Location: East or Midlands based, either home‑based or at Headway UK’s office in Nottingham.

Salary: £35,000 FTE (pro rata for 21 hours per week). Days are flexible, ideally including Tuesday or Friday.

Term: Fixed term from June 2026 until June 2027 (maternity cover).

Brief Overview

Are you a professional with experience supporting brain injury survivors? Are you passionate about improving standards of care? Would you be effective at conducting assessments and supporting residential care units to improve the care they provide?

What you will do

  • Conduct Approved Provider assessments, including visiting brain injury residential units and assessing the services they provide, making recommendations to improve practice against the framework.
  • Write and review reports for Approved Provider units following assessments, clearly highlighting strengths and areas for development.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of Headway UK’s Approved Provider scheme, driving standards and onboarding new units.
  • Work with freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors (brain injury survivors or family members) across the UK, organising assessments and ensuring standards are upheld.

About you

  • Prior experience working in the field of acquired brain injury.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, social work).
  • Ability to write and moderate written reports of high quality and clarity, providing accurate and accessible feedback.
  • Very good IT skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to gain the trust, confidence, and respect at all levels within external organisations and staff groups.
  • Excellent communication skills with new and existing Approved Provider units.
