To provide safe, reliable and supportive transport for clients with a disability, ensuring their comfort, dignity and wellbeing at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Collect clients with a disability from their homes and transport them safely to the centre driving a WAV or pool car.
  • Return clients to their homes at the end of the day.
  • Transport clients to and from external activities, appointments and outings as required.
  • Support and supervise clients during journeys, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
  • Safely secure wheelchairs and mobility equipment in the WAV using approved restraints.
  • Carry out basic vehicle safety checks (e.g. tyre pressure, oil and fluid levels) in line with Department for Transport regulations, recording that checks have been completed.
  • Follow all organisational driving policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Ensure vehicles are fuelled as required.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe and presentable condition, both inside and out.
  • When not driving, assist with cleaning pool vehicles, supporting group activities, or carrying out cleaning duties within the centre as required.
  • Maintain awareness of health and safety responsibilities at all times.
  • Work in accordance with all organisational policies and procedures.
  • Act at all times in the best interests of clients and the organisation.
