I am working with a well-established client based in Stockport, a specialist in the design and build of inspection and simulation machines. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their team and seeking an Installation/Maintenance Engineer to join their workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a dynamic and growing business.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide advanced technical support, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues across a range of systems.
- Lead service interventions and support installation and maintenance projects both on-site and remotely.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, delivering training on best practices, new features, and advanced fault-finding techniques.
- Monitor system performance, conduct audits, and ensure optimal reliability and efficiency of equipment.
- Maintain detailed documentation of service activities, system configurations, and maintenance work.
- Build strong relationships with customers, providing clear technical feedback, and ensuring maximum value from installed systems.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, industry standards, and health & safety regulations.
- Collaborate with design and product development teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement.
- Support workshop-based system builds and provide remote customer support when not travelling.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
- Typically 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role, with proven ability in diagnosing and repairing complex systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
- Experience with Operational Technology (OT) systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and valid passport with no travel restrictions – essential.
- Willingness to travel internationally (typically up to 2 weeks at a time, up to 8 trips per year).
- Flexibility to work varied hours during travel to meet installation and service requirements.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and preventative maintenance.
- Strong commitment to customer service and delivering high-quality support.
- Professional attitude with the ability to represent the business on-site with clients.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).
