As a Purchase Ledger Manager, you're used to "Making the numbers add up, and the nonsense go away." This job isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a quiet life of posting invoices and politely chasing suppliers once a quarter, best stop scrolling now. But if you've ever stared at a clunky AP process and thought, "There's got to be a better way to do this" and then actually did something about it - working on a 6 month fixed term contract, you'll have plenty of opportunity to sort things out.

We're looking for someone who knows their way around an Accounts Payable function like a cabbie knows London backstreets. Someone who can lead a small team, get stuck into the muck when needed, and still find time to bang the drum for better processes. Yes, it's finance. Yes, it's serious. But no, they don't want a robot or just any old Purchase Ledger Manager. They need someone with ideas, opinions, and enough emotional intelligence to know when to hold firm and when to call the supplier back after their third "I'll get that invoice to you today" email.

Here's what you'll actually do:

  • Run the day-to-day AP show. People. Processes. Payments.
  • Be the go-to for your team when things get hairy, because they will.
  • Own the supplier relationships, keep accounts tidy, and chase what matters.
  • Track performance, spot issues, fix stuff.
  • Speak fluent "Ops" as well as "Finance". Translate between the two.
  • Help us stop firefighting and start fireproofing.

You should already:

  • Have been doing something similar for the past few years.
  • Know your CIS from your VAT, and your PO from your elbow.
  • Have a black belt in process improvement (figuratively - actual martial arts skills optional).
  • Be comfortable managing people and leading them through change.
  • Be allergic to nonsense and inefficiency.

The company? They're big enough to have structure, small enough for your ideas to still make a difference. You'll have the freedom to shape things, as long as you're up for owning them too.
