An established UK group operating in a project-led, construction-focused environment is looking to appoint a Management Accountant as part of its next phase of growth. The business designs, manufactures and delivers complex projects across the UK, with multiple operating entities and a strong forward order book. Backed by a supportive, hands-off international investor, the UK leadership team has real autonomy and clear plans for growth, system improvement and future acquisitions. Staff turnover is low, and the culture is pragmatic, collaborative and down to earth.
This role sits at the centre of the finance function and has genuine visibility. You will take ownership of the end-to-end management accounts across a multi-entity group, producing accurate, timely numbers and presenting them directly to the Finance Director. Alongside this, you will support group consolidation, year-end audit, balance sheet control and project-level budgeting, ensuring revenue is recognised correctly and controls continue to improve.
You will also manage and develop two team members, acting as a steady mentor rather than a distant reviewer, and play an active role in upcoming change - including acquisition support and preparation for a new finance system implementation.
This would suit a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), though strong part-qualified or QBE candidates will be considered. Experience in project or contract-based accounting is important, and exposure to construction or similar environments would be highly beneficial. You will be comfortable working across multiple entities, confident with systems, and pragmatic in how you approach process improvement. Occasional overseas travel may be required.
In return, the business offers a salary of £50,000-£55,000 depending on experience, 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays (with the option to buy more), a hybrid working pattern with set home days, pension, healthcare cash plan and modern offices. There is a clear progression route to Financial Controller for someone who wants it, but equally the role stands well on its own.
