Fancy working a great finance role from your sofa? This one actually lets you.
Well, maybe not your sofa...But if you need a flexible, remote based role that still offers the same challenge and progression as any other, then this is worth a read.
I’m working with a growing, private equity-backed financial services group that has recently completed two acquisitions, has more planned, and is growing in turnover.
The role is fully remote, with the option to work hybrid from offices in the North West or outskirts of London if preferred.
And this isn’t a remote role where you’re left to your own devices and expected to just get on with it.
You'll work closely with the Financial Controller in a small, capable finance team - taking ownership of core accounting while also getting involved in process improvement, automation, AI and acquisition integration.
The Role:
- Own key month-end activities across the group
- Prepare balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Post journals and review monthly P&L movements
- Investigate variances, errors and issues rather than simply reporting them
- Support statutory accounts, audit, treasury and regulatory reporting
- Help integrate newly acquired businesses into group processes and reporting
- Improve processes, controls and reporting to reduce manual work
- Use Excel, Power Query and new technology to improve efficiency
- Explore opportunities to use automation and AI across finance
What they’re looking for:
- Strong core accounting and month-end experience
- Good understanding of double-entry, reconciliations and balance sheet control
- Confident Excel skills
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA studying or equivalent practical experience
- Evidence of improving a process, system or way of working
- Naturally curious and comfortable asking “why do we do it this way?”
- An interest in automation, AI and improving efficiency
- Someone who takes ownership and can work independently
What you’ll get:
- £35,000 - £45,000 salary
- Fully remote working
- North West / London offices available if preferred
- 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
- Potential discretionary bonus
- 3% employer pension contribution
- Direct exposure to the Financial Controller and senior leadership
- Exposure to acquisitions, integration and financial strategy
- Potential progression towards Finance Manager
- A flexible, output-focused culture - it’s about getting the job done, not watching the clock
If you’re a strong accountant who wants the flexibility of working remotely without sacrificing exposure, responsibility or development, this could be a really interesting next step.
