An international consumer-focused organisation is seeking an experienced Global Data Privacy Counsel to join its in-house legal team on a maternity cover basis. This is a hands-on role working closely with senior legal stakeholders and global business teams, providing practical advice across a broad range of data privacy matters spanning the UK, EU, North America, APAC and the US.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on global data protection and privacy matters, including data sharing initiatives
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with data privacy elements (e-commerce, software, consultancy)
  • Managing DPAs, data transfer agreements, DPIAs, data subject requests and breach incidents
  • Maintaining privacy policies, procedures and training materials
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and advising senior stakeholders internationally

About you:

  • Qualified lawyer with strong data privacy experience, ideally gained in-house
  • Confident advising on commercial contracts in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working across international jurisdictions and stakeholders
  • Highly organised, pragmatic and commercially minded
