We are recruiting a Graduate Quantity Surveyor for our client in Hull. The client is a leading interior fit out main contractor who specialise in shopfitting projects across the UK. They have an excellent reputation and history of producing quality, fast track fit out projects across the sector for some leading retail clients. Many of these clients are large food retailers such as Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury’s etc. They offer flexible, hybrid working but you must be willing to travel to visit clients and projects across the UK.

The role of Graduate Quantity Surveyor could suit someone who has recently graduated or is an undergraduate who is still studying and looking to work part-time whilst continuing studies. The duties of Graduate Quantity Surveyor are to provide commercial support on projects. You will report into a Senior QS and together will be responsible for the delivery of projects to meet financial targets. You will have good communication and administration skills. This position will be based in the company’s Hull office, but remote home working is occasionally available.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting the administration and documentation within the commercial team
  • Assisting the management of commercial accounts of numerous projects
  • Assisting in accurately valuing, certifying, and issuing any relevant payment notices for the works of supply chain partners in accordance with their contractual arrangement
  • Liaising with the Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Subcontractor enquiries
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget costings, bills of quantities
  • Arranging payments to Subcontractors

Requirements:

  • Degree, BTEC or HND/HNC (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other construction related studies (desired)
  • Some previous experience as a Trainee or Graduate Quantity Surveyor capacity within the construction industry (desired)
  • Some previous experience/knowledge in retail construction (desired)
