Our client, operating in the earthmoving and plant hire industry, is seeking to employ a Buyer / Stock Controller to join their team based in Bedford, Eastern Cape.
Location: Between Cradock and Grahamstown.
Requirements:
- Strong mechanical background.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficient in using procurement software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bilingual would be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery time.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Coordinate with project managers to determine purchasing needs and establish delivery timelines.
- Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier interactions, and inventory status.
- Resolve issues with suppliers regarding quality, pricing, and delivery discrepancies.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance and making recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed about industry developments and new products related to construction.
