Private Client Partner in London

Salary: Competitive / Negotiable Depending on Experience

About the Role

We are working with a highly regarded, award-winning and well-established London commercial law firm seeking an experienced Private Client Partner to join its busy and growing Private Client Department.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience handling complex Private Client matters, excellent leadership and business development capabilities, full STEP membership (TEP) and an established client following .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of Private Client matters, including Wills, Probate, Trusts and Estate Administration.
• Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on estate planning, wealth preservation and succession matters.
• Handle complex estate administration, including international and cross-border estates.
• Advise on Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) planning.
• Draft Wills, Trust Deeds and other complex estate planning documentation.
• Deal with contentious probate and inheritance disputes where required.
• Advise on Court of Protection matters, including relevant applications and estate management.
• Assist with charity formation, registration and associated legal matters.
• Manage and develop an established client portfolio, building strong long-term relationships.
• Lead business development initiatives, networking and marketing activities to generate new instructions.
• Support the Head of Department in developing and growing the Private Client practice.
• Supervise, mentor and develop junior solicitors and other team members.
• Identify cross-referral opportunities across the firm's wider commercial and legal departments.
• Contribute to departmental billing targets and overall financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including AML procedures.
• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with significant Private Client experience.
• Previous experience at Partner level or an equivalent senior position.
• STEP qualified with Full Membership (TEP).
• Established client following with proven business development capabilities.
• Strong experience advising on Wills, Probate, Trusts, Estate Administration and Tax Planning.
• Excellent technical knowledge of Private Client law and strong drafting skills.
• Experience managing and developing junior legal professionals.
• Proven ability to maintain client relationships and generate repeat business.
• Strong commercial awareness, including billing and financial management.
• Excellent communication, organisational and client management skills.
• Ability to manage complex matters independently while contributing to departmental growth.
• Contentious Probate and inheritance disputes.
• Court of Protection matters.
• Advising charities and charitable organisations.
• Advocacy experience.
