Job Title Assistant Operations Manager Air & Sea Freight. Role Overview Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will oversee and streamline daily international freight operations. You will manage the end-to-end movement of cargo across both air and sea freight (Imports/Exports), ensuring maximum efficiency, strict regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. You will also mentor junior staff and help resolve high-level operational escalations.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Execution: Oversee daily import and export workflows for air and sea freight shipments, ensuring smooth transit from origin to final destination.Compliance & Customs: Ensure all customs documentation, trade compliance, and entries (e.g., MAWB, HAWB, Bills of Lading, and HMRC requirements) are processed accurately and on time.Stakeholder Management: Negotiate competitive freight rates and service level agreements (SLAs) with airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, and haulage partners. Team Leadership: Support the Operations Manager in leading, coaching, and training the operations team. Conduct performance reviews and handle day-to-day staff management. Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track profitability, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous process improvements. Client & Escalation Management: Act as the main point of contact for resolving shipping delays, discrepancies, or customer complaints to deliver effective solutions. Requirements & QualificationsExperience: 35 years of proven experience in air and sea freight forwarding operations.Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, including import/export customs clearance procedures.Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with logistics management software (such as CargoWise, SAP, or similar TMS systems) and Microsoft Excel.
