You will manage FCL and cross-trade shipments end-to-end, support customer relationships, and play a key role in developing the company’s growing FCL offering. This is not a pure sales role but you will be involved in client meetings, commercial discussions and identifying new revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage FCL import/export shipments from quotation and booking through to final delivery.
- Handle cross-trade / third-country movements and coordinate overseas origins and destinations.
- Liaise and negotiate with shipping lines, agents, hauliers and suppliers.
- Prepare competitive quotations for shipments, tenders and projects.
- Maintain excellent communication with customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Build strong relationships with existing and new clients.
- Attend customer and business development meetings where required.
- Work with the wider team to identify and convert commercial opportunities.
- Ensure shipments are managed efficiently while protecting commercial margins.
- Resolve operational issues proactively and deliver high levels of customer service.
- Support the continued growth of the company’s FCL and cross-trade offering.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong, hands-on FCL freight forwarding experience.
- Good experience managing cross-trade shipments.
- Solid understanding of international freight forwarding processes.
- Ability to manage shipments independently from enquiry to completion.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of freight margins.
- Confidence preparing and negotiating quotations.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, carriers and suppliers.
- Comfortable attending customer and business development meetings.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, dependable and able to work effectively within a small team.
Desirable Experience
- Existing relationships within the freight forwarding or shipping industry.
- A network that could support new business or revenue opportunities.
- Experience developing accounts and identifying new areas of business.
- Broader freight knowledge beyond FCL.
