Build and scale the cloud foundation behind our global AI and data platform. Are you an Azure Cloud Engineer who enjoys designing scalable cloud foundations and enabling engineering teams through secure, reusable infrastructure patterns? Do you thrive in modern cloud-native environments where automation, governance and platform scalability are central to the engineering strategy?
We are looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer to join the Global Platform Team at HeadFirst x Impellam. In this role, you will design, build and maintain the cloud infrastructure foundation that enables our Headless Data Architecture (HDA) and Custom Apps Infrastructure (CA) to operate securely and at global scale.
Your impact
As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you play a key role in shaping the cloud foundation behind our global Workforce-as-a-Service (WaaS) platform. You work on the infrastructure layer that supports our data, AI and platform engineering capabilities across multiple regions. You contribute directly to our Headless Data Architecture (HDA), a modular and API-first data platform built on Azure and Databricks, as well as the surrounding Custom Apps Infrastructure (CA) that powers integrations, applications and operational workflows across the organisation.
A core part of your role is designing scalable, secure and reusable Azure infrastructure patterns. You define and implement multi-region cloud architectures, standardise Infrastructure-as-Code practices and ensure teams can efficiently operate on a governed and future-proof platform. You collaborate closely with Platform Engineers, AIOps Engineers and Data Engineers to ensure that networking, security, storage and cloud operations fully support the scalability and reliability of the global data and AI platform. At the same time, you contribute to building a secure-by-default engineering ecosystem by embedding governance, identity management, disaster recovery and operational standards into every layer of the cloud platform.
What you will do
- Define and implement scalable multi-region Azure architecture patterns
- Design and manage Azure networking including hub-spoke architectures, private connectivity and hybrid networking
- Standardise resource organisation, tagging strategies and landing zone governance
- Own Azure identity and access management including RBAC and managed identities
- Define and enforce policy-as-code and cloud governance standards
- Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules and infrastructure provisioning patterns
- Enable engineering teams through self-service cloud infrastructure capabilities
- Ensure secure connectivity between Databricks environments, integrations and global systems
- Monitor and optimise cloud costs across storage, networking and compute workloads
- Collaborate with Platform Engineers and Data Engineers on Databricks optimisation and operational improvements
- Define and implement backup, failover and disaster recovery strategies
- Support onboarding of teams onto standardised Azure platform patterns
- Implement secure-by-default capabilities such as Key Vault integration, private endpoints and network isolation
About the role
You will be part of a growing Global Platform Team that is central to the transformation of HeadFirst x Impellam into a scalable, AI-powered and cloud-native organisation. Working with technologies such as Azure, Databricks and Terraform, you help build the cloud infrastructure foundation that enables Data, AI and Platform Engineering teams to operate efficiently and securely at global scale. This role offers a strong combination of cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture and exposure to modern platform engineering practices in an international environment.
